Howdy Folks,
This has been a difficult edition to put out, the heat is getting to the computer and for some reason it responds by freezing up. Better than a melt down I suppose.
The Ossipee Valley Bluegrass Festival is fast approaching and the dance floor for that event AND for the Maine Fiddle Camp is in the form of a stack of lumber in my front yard.
This Saturday & possibly Sunday as well we will be cutting, gluing, screwing & painting to get the panels the way we need em. Please join us in this volunteer effort. If none of those skills are part of your set, come by with refreshments for those who are toiling away.
Many folks know that we have a hard surface dance floor that has been let out for weddings and other events. That floor is made of High Density Overlay, a slick but cold floor. This new floor will add an organic and natural looking dance floor option for the community's special events.
Speaking of the Ossipee Valley Bluegrass Festival, as
I often do...
along with children's dance events with Hope Hoffman, barn dances and contradances
with yours truly (me!), & Anthony Jaccarino; Tich Cownie, Paul Crook (of
ELH) & N.H. Caller Jeff Petrovich on Friday & Saturday evening, and
along with the banjo fling
(go here http://www.brctv.org/joom/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=28&Itemid=36
and select "banjo toss")
and along with all the music and competitions, (including Stan & Liz Keach
in the Song Writer event), vendors and swimming too...
the festival headliners, Daily & Vincent, are busy busting the charts
on their way to their first New England performance ever at OVBGFest. This
band is hot and this is a great chance to see them on their way up, or up
North as it were...
Check out the band's website at http://www.daileyvincent.com/ and come to
this Saturday night's 2nd Sat NAAA contradance in North Yarmouth for chances
to win free tickets to OVBGF!
Meanwhile the new chicks are in a pen next to the hens,
They were none too pleased to see the newcomers. But as they spend the day
clucking along side one another they seem to be a tad more friendly. One hen
in particular, who seems more motherly, stand by the fence and clucks soothingly
at them.
No doubt the hens have been broody, which translates to a daily game of Egg
Hunt for me.
One clutch evaded detection for a week or so and when uncovered revealed almost
2 dozen eggs, all of an indeterminate age. Hmm.
It is said that if an egg is rotten it will float. None did, but would you
take the chance?
Be well, Jeff
